R.I.P Tony Hart

18 01 2009

The artist and gentle TV presenter Tony Hart has died at the age of 83.
According to the BBC he died peacfeully in his sleep in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Although I am too young to have watched many of his programmes, I fondly remember religiously watching "the nice old man" on SMart and Hart Beat. It became a tradition that i’d sit with a pencil and paper watching him whilst trying my best to copy his drawings, being encouraged by the sounds of "ooh that’s good" from my Grandma who particularly enjoyed Morph. Tony Hart definitely fulled my passion for art, one which continues to this day. After seeing the newer editions of SMart his presence is very much missed.

R.I.P to a talented artist who has inspired many.
